Is God Still Calling People Into Deeper Encounters With Him?

Many Christians believe in God.Many attend church faithfully. Many read their Bibles and pray.

Yet beneath all of that, there’s a quiet question some are afraid to ask:

Is there more?

More than routine.More than information.More than going through the motions.

Scripture suggests the answer is yes.

God has always been a God who invites His people not just to know about Him, but to encounter Him.

An Experience Is Not the Same as an Encounter

In today’s Christian culture, we often talk about spiritual experiences. Worship moments, emotional services, powerful messages. Experiences matter, but they are not the same thing as an encounter.

An experience may move you.An encounter changes you.

An encounter with God leaves a mark. It reshapes how you see Him, how you see yourself, and how you live afterward.

Moses experienced many miracles, but there came a moment when he asked God for something deeper. He said, “Show me Your glory.” That request was not about information. It was about intimacy.

God responded by revealing His presence in a way Moses had never known before.

Encounters in Scripture were never casual moments. They were sacred turning points.

God Is Not Distant or Disinterested

One of the most damaging ideas believers carry is that encounters with God are reserved for a select few. Prophets. Leaders. The spiritually elite.

But Scripture tells a different story.

God walked with Adam.He spoke with Abraham. He revealed Himself to Moses. He filled the upper room with His Spirit.

And through Jesus Christ, God now dwells with His people.

God has not withdrawn from humanity. He is not silent. He is not hiding. He is still revealing Himself to those who seek Him with sincere hearts.

The problem is not God’s willingness. Often, it is our availability.

Why Many Believers Don’t Experience Encounters

For many, faith has become crowded.

Crowded with schedules.Crowded with distractions.Crowded with noise.

Encounters with God usually require space. Not physical distance, but spiritual attentiveness. They require a heart that is willing to slow down, listen, and surrender control.

Sometimes we want God’s presence without giving Him access.

We want comfort without consecration. We want reassurance without transformation.

But throughout Scripture, encounters happened when people humbled themselves, obeyed God’s direction, and desired Him more than outcomes.

Encounters Are About Relationship, Not Emotion

An encounter with God is not defined by how emotional a moment feels. Some encounters are quiet. Some are overwhelming. Some happen in silence.

What defines an encounter is not volume, but impact.

After encountering God, people in Scripture walked differently. They obeyed differently. They trusted differently.

An encounter produces reverence. It produces clarity. It produces obedience.

Encounters do not replace faithfulness; they deepen it.

God Is Still Calling People Deeper

God is still calling His people beyond surface-level faith.

He is calling believers into deeper prayer.Deeper obedience.Deeper surrender.

Not so they can chase moments, but so they can walk in relationship.

Encounters with God are not about spiritual highs. They are about spiritual alignment.

When we encounter God, we begin to desire what He desires. We begin to see sin differently. We begin to love people more deeply. We begin to live with holy purpose.

A Personal Invitation

If your faith has felt dry, distant, or routine, God may be inviting you deeper.

Not into more activity, but into more intimacy. Not into performance, but into presence. Not into religion, but into relationship.

God still responds to hearts that cry out, “Lord, I want to know You.”

And when He reveals Himself, He always does so with love, truth, and transforming power.

A Closing Thought

Encounters with God are not the end goal of faith. They are moments that shape the journey.

They remind us that God is real. That He is near. That He is holy.

And that He desires to walk with His people.

The question is not whether God is still calling people deeper.

The question is whether we are willing to respond.
